Cris Cyborg Steroid Cheater Even Dr. Johnny Benjamin Leaps From Her Bandwagon!

Honest MMA fans always believed Cris Cyborg Santos cheated with performance enhancing steroids to gain an unfair advantage over her opponents.

Now it's official because the California State Athletic Commission has caught Cris Cyborg using steroids.

Dana White has stripped Cyborg of her Strikeforce 145 pound title while the flimflam former female champ blamed her steroid use on a vitamin pill!

We've exposed Cyborg steroid use apologists before. Remember Dr. Johnny Benjamin's Cris Cyborg steroid cheating lies by omission?

Is clueless Dr. Johnny Benjamin still defending Cris Cyborg's steroid use? From his latest article on Cyborg's failed steroid test, it appears Dr. Johnny now believes Santos is a steroid cheater.

To his credit, the MMAJunkie.com Doc explains in detail why he now believes Cris Cyborg is a steroid cheater.

However, Dr. Johnny Benjamin still can't help muddy the issue. He mentions (creates out of thin air?) some xenophobic rumor about Brazilian MMA athletes and steroid use.

I don't know how the MMA Doc comes up with this nonsense but PtWhiteBelt's comment about the Doc's ridiculous assertions sum it up perfectly:

"'Furthermore she only reinforces the misguided, xenophobic stereotype/misconception/rumor that PED use is rampant among Brazilian athletes and is a primary reason for their dominance in MMA.' Wow, where did that come from? Who are exactly those dominant Brazilians everyone misguidedly thinks (ab)use PEDs? Whose stereotype is that exactly? Maybe the Doc would like to share something with us? Could it be that this is his own suspicion now masked as a "let's pretend everyone/lots of people think so"? "

Johnny Benjamin tried a similar misdirection trick in his original article defending Cris Cyborg from steroid use accusations.

I revealed Benjamin's flawed reasoning in an earlier article. Here it is in pertinent part:

"So while Dr. Johnny Benjamin will claim he wrote a truthful statement, in my opinion a man with his background should have known he was committing a lie by omission. The good Doc simply left out the whole story in order to convince his readers that Cristiane Cyborg Santos has never used steroids.

In his puff piece column for MMAjunkie.com Dr. Johnny Benjamin then continues to mislead his readers by stating this about Cyborg steroid critics, "I know this and many other types of malicious commentary are the very ammunition that detractors of MMA use to wage their anti-legalization war. So, while some pitiful individuals are out there typing away spreading their filth and venom, other MMA fans should begin to realize why it is so hard to legalize MMA in some key states..."

More hogwash because it's the good Doc who is delusional. The reason it's difficult to legalize MMA in some key states has all to do with politics and little to do with "filth and venom".

Take New York state for example. MMA promotions are not allowed there because of a powerful special interest group, namely, the Union Lobby.

The UFC is owned by Zuffa whose majority stockholders are Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta who also run the family owned Station Casinos which has long been a staunchly open shop.

The biggest promotional organization in MMA, the UFC, believes in open, fair, non union capitalism while the Democratically controlled government of New York is beholding to the powerful labor unions who helped get them elected. Neither side will budge, therefore there will be no major MMA events in New York state.

All this was omitted in Dr. Johnny Benjamin's Ask The Doc column in MMAjunkie.com even though Dr. Johnny claimed to have recently been part of the legislative process.

In my opinion his cover up, omissions and puff piece reporting are shamefully irresponsible and make him wholly unqualified to render an honest opinion about Cris Cyborg and steroid use to loyal MMAjunkie.com readers and the public at large."

Dr. Johnny Benjamin tried to address this in his 01/09/12 MMA Junkie article:

"In a prior article, I defended all athletes in general and Santos in particular against the diminution of their work ethic and sacrifice by those who chose to belittle them with unsupported accusations of performance-enhancing (commonly anabolic-steroid) drug use.

Just because you can't do what they do (or look like they look) is not proof that they cheat and use PEDs. It may provoke suspicions, but that is far from proof and shouldn't be used to malign and slander an elite athlete."

Again, Dr. Johnny fabricated another rumor to cover his failings. MMA fans do not make steroid accusations because they can't pull off an omoplata like Frank Mir or train like the Diaz brothers.

Knowledgeable MMA fans have always respected the sacrifices and work ethic of these elite athletes. The fans also know that when Cris Cyborg tosses Marloes Coenen around the cage like a sack of feathers, it's not solely attributable to Cyborg's skill and training.

MMA fans enjoy watching their favorite cage fighters interviewed by MMA reporters Ariel Helwani, Aaron Tru, Kevin Iole and others but many must wonder why most of these interviews are just puff pieces meant to hype some upcoming UFC, WEC or Strikeforce MMA event. MMA fans are especially tired of the softball questions directed at Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos.

Cris "Cyborg" Santos is the hottest female MMA fighter today. Her impressive wins over Gina Carano and Marloes Coenen have cemented Cyborg's position as the best female MMA north or south of the equator. However, Cyborg's physique along with her total dominance over world class opponents like Carano and Coenen beg the question whether Cris Cyborg cheats with steroids, HGH or other performance enhancing drugs.

Will Helwani, Tru, Iole, Dan Stupp, Mark LaMonica, Mike Straka, Tristen Critchfield, T. J. DeSantis, Steve Cofield, Mike Chiappetta, Sergio Non, John Morgan, Matt Brown, Odeen Domingo, Brett Okamoto, Gary Alexander, Matt Erickson, Jeremy Botter, Kevin Pishna or any top MMA reporter have the stones to investigate and confront Cris Cyborg about possible steroid use?

Aaron Tru felt Cyborg's power when he arranged for a publicity stunt that required the reporter to be choked out by Cris Cyborg. The video of this was planned and staged but the choke out was 100% real. Gina Carano also choked out Sports Science TV host John Brenkus, however Cyborg has hurt and intimidated other reporters.

A male reporter on a Los Angeles morning television show wanted to experience the power of one of Cyborg's kicks. She obliged. He required hip surgery to repair the damage. And who can forget Ariel Helwani's trepidation during a video interview with Cris Cyborg when he nervously asked her about her weight for the upcoming Carano match after Cyborg had disrespected her previous opponent Hitomi Akano by coming in seven pounds overweight?

Which MMA reporter will step up in the tradition of investigative journalism displayed by Mike Wallace, who feared no one, or Jack Newfield who took on Don King, Louis Farrakhan, Ed Koch and the judicial establishment of New York City?

Who knows, perhaps it will be this guy who goes by the unlikely name, The Fight Nerd.

* They will play down to heads up on Saturday, November 7, starting at about noon (3 PM eastern).
* The heads-up match starts on Monday, November 9, at about 10 PM (1 AM eastern).

That's one more day than last year, when the wsop final started on Sunday.

If you want to avoid the results until the final table is broadcast on regular ESPN, it will be difficult. ESPN will report the results beforehand, despite past criticism about that last year. Other media outlets will also cover the results.

Most football fans probably never heard of Thamail Morgan but those who have might associated him with an unfortunate incident at Newport that caused the highly recruited player to be booted off the team. He went from top recruit to the dog house.

I don't know what rule Thamail Morgan violated at Newport but I know he transferred to Cave City about 40 miles from his home which brings us to this past weekend when Thamail Morgan did one of the classiest things you'll ever see on a football field.

Delonte West, NBA Star arrested on weapons charges! Delonte West is "El Mariachi"!

Hey I love these professional sports figures. After all, I make a literal fortune betting on their games with The Sports Betting Champ but good grief many of them screw up big time hey?

According to the Washington Post, the Cleveland Cavaliers Star was pulled over and arrested in Prince George's County on Thursday night after a police officer found he was carrying three loaded guns.

The NBA's "El Mariachi" was driving a three-wheeled motorcycle north on Interstate 95 near Route 214 in the Largo area when he cut off a Prince George's County cop, authorities said. The officer stopped him, and West told the cop he was carrying a handgun in his belt.

That caused the officer to call for backup, and investigators found that Delonte West was actually packing three guns:

The Washington Post goes on to say, "West, who is 26 and lives in Brandywine, was arrested and charged with speeding and two counts of carrying a handgun, according to Maj. Andy Ellis, a spokesman for the Prince George's County Police Department. He was released today on personal recognizance, according to Ellis and online court records. Ellis said it was unclear where West was going and why he was armed."

It happened early Sunday morning. He was brought to San Diego County Jail.

Tila Tequila (Tila Nguyen), called the cops at 3:45 a.m., saying Merriman choked and physically restrained her. She claims Merriman wouldn't let her leave his house, and signed a citizens arrest at the scene, charging Shawne Merriman with battery and false imprisonment.

Is this yet another case of roid rage? If you recall, Merriman was caught cheating with steroids in 2006. He was suspended for four games.

This fruitcake actually plays the race card by insinuating Boise State Linebacker Byron Hout was responsible for Blount's assault on him because he called Blount the N word. Where did Zennie Abraham get his "evidence"? Out of thin air. He made it up. He lied so he could play the race card.

Tito Ortiz, Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion will face Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Mark Coleman at UFC 106 November 21, 2009 in Las Vegas.

While on his sabbatical Tito has been very busy. He appeared on NBC's Celebrity Apprentice with Donald Trump, published an autobiography, "This Is Gonna Hurt" and helped several charities including PETA (see 2nd video below) and United Blood Services.

Cris Cyborg Steroid Cheating? Bet and Win When Cris Cyborg Fights.

If the authorities allow Cris Cyborg to cheat with steroids you must factor this in when handicapping her MMA fights. That is exactly what I did to make gobs of money. Here's how I did it.

In the past I placed very few bets on MMA contests and none at all on WMMA. What action I did place was usually the result of Randy Couture's predictions. The guy is uncanny when it comes to picking winners in the octagon.

Alas, I didn't have Randy Couture's sage counsel before the Gina Carano vs. Cris Cyborg Santos match because Randy was Gina's trainer. However, I had something even better.

Like you I was swept up in all the pre fight hype and hoopla surrounding Carano vs. Cyborg. I had seen Gina Carano fight before plus I had watched some episodes of "Fight Girls" in which she appeared with legendary Muay Thai trainer Master Toddy. I knew Gina had phenomenal fighting skills.

I knew nothing about Cristiane Cyborg Santos so I did a little digging. Information is the coin of the realm in sports betting and there was a treasure chest of data about Cris Cyborg.

Everything I read and watched about Cyborg was positive. She had a tremendous work ethic which honed her considerable fighting skills at famed Chute Boxe Academy in Brazil. I discovered she was an excellent handball player and all around superb athlete.

But something struck me about Cris Cyborg's physique. She didn't appear to have a naturally developed body. Then I knew! Cris Cyborg was unnaturally ripped. In my opinion she had combined hard work with anabolic steroid cycling. I believed Cris Cyborg was a steroid cheater.

So I researched Strikeforce's (Cyborg's promotion company) steroid, PED screening procedures. I quickly discovered their drug screening was an absolute joke. They did not have random drug tests in place and the test they did administer was a urine test!

It was simple to learn that a fighter like Cris Cyborg trains for several months before a match, plenty of time for her to cycle on and off a steroid program and come up clean before the PED test. Plus, the test involved a urine sample. All experienced steroid using athletes know this is the easiest test to foil. You simply replace your "dirty" urine with a clean sample. There are simple bladders available that make fooling these test results especially convenient for women. Here's an article from Drug Free Sport that explains how these devices work. Cyborg’s man-like strength was too much for Gina. Cris Cyborg won the fight by referee stoppage at 4:59 of Round 1. Any knowledgeable bettor picked Cris Cyborg to win (as I did) even though one had to lay almost 2 to get 1. Good grief, if I’m able to bet on a fight between two equally skilled women but one is allowed to cheat with steroids while the other does not cheat… well, it’s like printing money.

I have tremendous respect for Gina Carano. She actually acquitted herself very well against Cris Cyborg. One glaring error Gina committed was not capitalizing on a dominant position when she had Cris in the full mount.

Another interesting fact I discovered was that Stikeforce Founder & CEO Scott Coker offered Gina a tune up bout before any match with Cyborg would take place. Gina refused and told Coker that she wanted to fight Cris Cyborg next.

On a related note, in a recent interview with M-1 Global, MMA newcomer and Judo sensation Cindy Dandois (who defeated Marloes Coenen in her 1st MMA fight) said this about Cristiane Cyborg Santos: “…there’s not much woman left in her.”

I can’t wait for that fight.

UPDATE: January 2012, Cris Cyborg Fails Post Fight Drug Test.

It's now official. Cris Cyborg Santos has been caught cheating with steroids to gain an unfair advantage over her opponents. Dana White has stripped the disgraced Brazilian of her Strikeforce 145 lb title. Cyborg has been banned for at least one year.

In the wake of Cristiane Cyborg Santos' victory over MMA Superstar Gina Carano Dr. Johnny Benjamin was asked in his "Ask The Doc" column on MMAjunkie.com if he thought Cyborg was using steroids or human growth hormone.

In part he answered, "I have absolutely no reason to believe or suspect Cris Santos of being anything other than a superb athlete...She has been tested for performance-enhancing drugs in the U.S. many times, and to my knowledge, has never failed a screen."

What a load of hogwash. Dr. Johnny Benjamin is either covering for steroid users or just naive. California had 15 steroid positives for 54 MMA events in eight months during 2007.

Recently, the California State Athletic Commission refused a license for Affliction Entertainment’s fight between Fedor Emelianenko and Josh Barnett because Barnett had tested positive for steroids. Affliction then canceled the bout, and went out of business.

Ped testing in MMA is a joke and the good Doc should have reported this fact in his column. For example, there is no random testing in the UFC or Strikeforce (Cris Cyborg's promotion co). As the good Doc knows, a fighter trains for several months before a match. That gives the fighter plenty of time to cycle on and off a steroid program and come up clean before the test.

Kimo Leopold, MMA fighter caught cheating with steroids multiple times, says: "I really believed that it would be out of my system. I knew I was going to get tested, after my previous thing with the Nevada State Athletic Commission. I know no matter what now every fight is going to be like that. Now, knowing this and I’m a pretty intelligent guy, when I step into this doctor’s office, if I had any clue and I was going to cheat, I would have had fake pee. There’s a lot of ways around tests if you want to cheat". (CagePotato.com)

"In March 2008, mixed martial arts fighter Frank Shamrock was asked if he knew any fighters who were using PEDs and he responded with only one name: Ken Shamrock, his adoptive brother. He went on to say that Ken had used steroids “his whole life.”

At the time of Frank’s statement, Ken had never failed a drug test even though other fighters such as Dan Severn hinted that he used and there was wide speculation that he used while he was with the WWE. One year after Frank’s interview, the California State Athletic Commission suspended UFC hall of famer Ken Shamrock one year and fined him $2,500 after he tested positive for numerous anabolic agents. Shamrock tested positive for 19-Norandrosterone, 19-Noretiocholanolone and Stanozolol (brand name Winstrol) following a Feb. 13, 2009 Wargods event.

Frank Shamrock also did not feel that current steroid testing polices were adequate because the polices are put in place by the state commissions, not the companies themselves. In fact, a search on the Ultimate Fighting Championship website for the words “steroid,” “policy” and “drug” yielded no results." (Examiner.com)

So while Dr. Johnny Benjamin will claim he wrote a truthful statement, in my opinion a man with his background should have known he was committing a lie by omission. The good Doc simply left out the whole story in order to convince his readers that Cristiane Cyborg Santos has never used steroids.

In his puff piece column for MMAjunkie.com Dr. Johnny Benjamin then continues to mislead his readers by stating this about Cyborg steroid critics, "I know this and many other types of malicious commentary are the very ammunition that detractors of MMA use to wage their anti-legalization war. So, while some pitiful individuals are out there typing away spreading their filth and venom, other MMA fans should begin to realize why it is so hard to legalize MMA in some key states..."

More hogwash because it's the good Doc who is delusional. The reason it's difficult to legalize MMA in some key states has all to do with politics and little to do with "filth and venom".

Take New York state for example. MMA promotions are not allowed there because of a powerful special interest group, namely, the Union Lobby.

The UFC is owned by Zuffa whose majority stockholders are Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta who also run the family owned Station Casinos which has long been a staunchly open shop.

The biggest promotional organization in MMA, the UFC, believes in open, fair, non union capitalism while the Democratically controlled government of New York is beholding to the powerful labor unions who helped get them elected. Neither side will budge, therefore there will be no major MMA events in New York state.

All this was omitted in Dr. Johnny Benjamin's Ask The Doc column in MMAjunkie.com even though Dr. Johnny claimed to have recently been part of the legislative process.

In my opinion his cover up, omissions and puff piece reporting are shamefully irresponsible and make him wholly unqualified to render an honest opinion about Cris Cyborg and steroid use to loyal MMAjunkie.com readers and the public at large.

Cindy Dandois, an up and coming MMA fighter who in her first MMA bout defeated Marloes Coenen (one of the world's top female MMA fighters and Cris Cyborg's next opponent) has accused Cris Santos Cyborg of using steroids and performance enhancing drugs.

It happened in an interview Cindy gave to M-1 Global which fabfivedirt also posted on YouTube. When the interviewer asked Ms. Dandois about upcoming challenges in her MMA career she mentioned Gina Carano and Cris Cyborg. You can watch the interview below where Cindy Dandois says of Cris Cyborg:

"And Christiane Cyborg obviously, even though there's not much woman left in her."

Because Cindy Dandois hails from Team Perfect in Antwerp, Belgium her subtitled Cyborg smack talk is all we have at the moment. It's still a very interesting video to watch.

Interspersed throughout her interview are video clips of Dandois tossing Marloes Coenen around the ring like a rag doll. (see UPDATE below) Remember...Marloes Coenen had been fighting and winning for over ten years while this was Cindy Dandois' first MMA fight!

UPDATE: When I initially wrote this article I had only viewed those portions of the Cindy Dandois vs Marloes Coenen MMA fight that were included in the video below. Since then I have viewed the entire fight. Although the edited clips below do show Cindy's highlights, the complete video reveals that while the judges gave the nod to Dandois, Marloes Coenen actually won the fight. Cindy did a great job for her first MMA match, but any objective viewer would agree that Coenen clearly won the fight. The judges robbed Marloes Coenen of her victory.

Sports Gambling to Move Forward Unabated

During the Summer months, sports gambling had become legalized in Delaware. This would be Delaware's second attempt at bringing land based sports gambling to the state. The first attempt, in the 1970's, was a dismal failure. The original scheme had included parlay type betting, which meant a bettor would place a wager spanning across three or more games. This time around Delaware has included single game betting, which caused the major leagues, led by the NFL, to raise a raucous and bring the issue to the courts.

The sports gambling was set to go into effect before the start of the NFL season. The NFL had hoped to have the sports gambling Bill over turned prior to the NFL season, but the courts have decided to postpone the court date until December. The opposing factions will meet in court on December 7th, giving Delaware residents almost an entire regular season's worth of sports betting. Hockey fans will also have a slew of NHL games on which to bet.

The only hope the NFL has to stop the sports lottery before the season is a court order to suspend the activity prior to the court date. While the case is pending, the plaintiff has the right to ask for the suspension, but this does not mean it will go underway.

The NFL is concerned with the integrity of the game, and thinks that legalized sports gambling in Delaware could have a negative impact on the game and potentially lead to corruption within the league. Opponents of the NFL, most notably the government of Delaware, have claimed these arguments to be invalid, primarily due to the fact that sports betting is a regular occurrence in both Las Vegas and the Internet.

Three of Delaware's casinos will be hosting the sports gambling scheme. September 1st is the reported launch date and players should expect to see the action start that day. The NFL regular season kicks off on September 10th, just nine days after the inclusion of sports gambling in Delaware. The NHL will resume their season October 1st, and the NBA will start October 27th. The MLB will also have the World Series before November 5th, giving fans of each league a chance to place bets on early, opening games or, in the case of the MLB, their major event.

The only advantage to the trial in December is that both sides of the issue have plenty of time to build a case. Both the Plaintiffs and the Defendant have months before they must submit their findings, giving plenty of opportunities to get the proverbial ducks in a row before they must argue their point.
